CIVIC

Civic buildings are, as a rule, both austere and intimidating. They are often designed to represent authority above all, taking cues from Classical architectural language to construct an image of power, dominance, and civic unity.

Bible Baptist Church of Bradenton - Bradenton, FL

This new 1,000 seat sanctuary for the Bible Baptist Church was designed to accommodate new offices, a break room with kitchen facilities and convenient work and storage space.    A conference room, classroom, music room and a bookstore were incorporated into the new building, as well as a nursery/daycare area with age appropriate restroom facilities.

The main design elements of the Narthex consists of a Jerusalem Stone wall and a Louis Poulsen Artichoke light fixture.  The restrooms in the Narthex were split on each side and expanded to relieve congestion that is typical in this area.

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe -  Binz Building - Sarasota, FL

In 2013, the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe (WBTT) contacted CA3 for the renovation of two existing structures.

We assisted with defining their program and developing a master plan.  The Main Theatre includes additional seating, improved restroom facilities, actors’ dressing rooms and restrooms, storage area, and scene shop.  The larger lobby and reception areas for theatre patrons prior to performances will have a will-call office and snack bar.

The existing 2-story Binz Building includes the theatre’s offices, educational space, studios and event spaces.

There is a 6,000 square foot roof top garden terrace as an event space.
